Central High School Draw, Paint, Print students have been busy creating some amazing artwork these past few weeks!
They explored Georgia O’Keeffe inspired chalk pastels, painted acrylic landscapes, and learned the hands-on process of block printing. They also took a field trip to the Minneapolis Institute of Art, where students received guided tours from museum staff. We are so proud of their creativity and hard work.
Enjoy a peek at what they’ve been making!

Way to go Ms.Hanson's Raider Time! They won the contest for the most items collected in the High School Food Drive last week and earned a trip to DQ! Blizzards on a snowy day were a wonderful treat this beautiful Friday.

November Middle School Award Winners!

Our 4th graders took on a fun and creative challenge in STEAM class — building a three-story tower using only spaghetti and marshmallows!
Students worked in small groups to design blueprints, measure carefully, and test their engineering skills. Many had awesome ideas that didn’t quite go as planned, but that’s all part of the learning process!
Pictured are the groups whose towers and blueprints met every project requirement. We’ve already seen so much growth in teamwork, problem-solving, and design thinking, and we’re excited to see how their skills continue to develop throughout the year!

Fifth graders are launching into STEAM fun! Students made catapults using popsicle sticks, rubber bands, and a plastic spoon. Their goal was to launch a candy pumpkin as far as possible. The winning groups successfully launched more than 400 inches!

On Tuesday, Nov. 25, Taher's Chef Jamie Sultze visited Central Public Schools.
She made Pasta Amatriciana, which has its historical roots in the town of Amatrice, Italy. This recipe was inspired from the Taher Chef Council tirp that they made to Italy in 2004. It is an authentic Roman pasta dish made from penne pasta, parmesan cheese, tomatoes, basil and bacon. It was served with garlic toast and Caesar salad and was a real treat for the students!

The fifth graders put on their own version of the Thanksgiving Day parade using robots and a green screen! Each group created a balloon to represent a common character, attached it to a robot, and then "drove" the robot across the green screen. The kindergarten students even got to watch the excitement and loved seeing all the creative balloons.

Our preschoolers had a blast in their very own Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade last week!
They proudly marched through the hallways, showing off their creative balloon creations, bringing big smiles to everyone they passed. Before they made their creations, the preschoolers read the book "Balloons Over Broadway" to get ideas of balloons they wanted to create. They also learned how the memorable Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons are made each year. We ended the parade with a Thanksgiving themed dance party. What a fun and festive way to celebrate imagination and community!

We are big fans of this message of love from our elementary students who got to participate in the Glow Party recently!

265 K-5 students recently completed a "Fall into Reading" at-home reading challenge. To celebrate, they were able to participate in a Glow Party, where they could be active in the gym or color in the music room. Everything was glow themed and students wore glow stick necklaces and bracelets. They had a blast!

Full STEAM ahead! In STEAM classes this month, kindergarten and first grade students were introduced to coding. They worked with a robot named Indi that uses colored mats. Each color makes Indi move in a different direction. Students had to figure out what each color represents and then use that information to create paths for Indi to follow.

Members of the Trades and Manufacturing Group met with Mr. Hallquist’s business class as they made pitches to make improvements to the Career Fair.

There is still time to donate to the Central Secondary School Food Drive supporting The Bountiful Basket and the Southwest Food Shelf!
