Central Elementary School families, are you looking for a great seasonal photo of your student?
The High School Student Council is offering each grade an opportunity to have their picture taken in one of their Winter Theme hole-in-the-face cutouts including snowmen, reindeer, and gingerbread men. It will be set up in the Elementary Library according to the following schedule:
-Monday 12/16 1:45-2:45 4th & 5th Grades
-Wednesday 12/18 1:45-2:45 2nd & 3rd Grades
-Thursday 12/19 1:45-2:45 1st & K Grades
Students or parents will need to fill out a sign up sheet from teachers and bring it with them for the photo.. We are also asking for a $1 donation that will go to the Bountiful Basket food shelf in Cologne that serves our community!

The cast and crew list has been posted for the One Act play this year! Every year Central competes in the MSHSL One Act competition. We will be performing "Sweep Under Rug", a play set in a dystopian future where struggling families have their own "Bobby Sue" to keep them in line. The play follows the citizens of "The City" and what happens as a revolution unfolds. The first competition for Subsections is on Saturday, January 25.

The full-day preschool friends in Mrs. Pugh's class had their first visit to the STEAM room today! They were so excited to participate in the fun activities Mrs. Kreuser has in her classroom. They worked on building with tangrams to create fun holiday designs and had the opportunity to create a shelf for their elves, with a challenge to see who created the tallest.

The Hamburg, Cologne, and NYA Fire Departments are holding a Toy Drive with toys that will be given to the Southwest Carver County Food Shelf in NYA and Bountiful Basket Food Shelf and Cologne! You can donate toys by dropping them off at the STEAM Lab at Central Elementary School before Dec. 17!

On Monday, Dec. 2 we had 11 6th graders participate in Kids in the Kitchen baking Christmas Cookies, after school. Students learned how to crack an egg, measure ingredients, use a mixer, and boil on top of the stove. They made four different types of cookies and were able to take the cookies they made home, along with a certificate and their paper chef hats. A fun time was had by all!

Second graders had a great time building multisyllabic words during phonics. Students were provided several cards containing one syllable each. They needed to match them up to form real words. After the students found a match, they practiced writing their words and reading them together. This is just one more way the Fundations Phonics Curriculum makes learning fun, collaborative, and engaging for our little Raiders!
Raider Nation, it is the season of giving and we are looking for community members and families who would like to spread the cheer this year by fulfilling a tag for the Seasons of Giving. Central Elementary celebrated students who completed an at-home reading challenge with a Glow Party! 210 students in grades K-5 completed the challenge and were able to color and make art projects using highlighters and black lights in one room, as well as play and dance in the gym with glow sticks. They built some great reading habits and had a ball!
It’s almost the end of a year, which means 2025-26 kindergarten registration is just a couple of months away! Students in Kindergarten at Central Elementary get to have a lot of fun during their school day as they learn lots of new things.

The Raider Field House will be closed on Thursday and Friday this week for Thanksgiving! You will be able to get in your post turkey exercise again on Saturday.
Auditions for Central's One Act play "Sweep Under Rug" will be on Tuesday, Dec. 3 from 3:45 - 5:45 in the Auditorium. Students in grades 7 - 12 are welcome to join us for the group audition. Actors and crew members are needed! Go to Google Classroom code: tp37hxm for acting scenes.
"Sweep Under Rug" envisions a future where struggling families are placed in the "Bobby Sue" program. A "Bobby Sue" is a guardian of sorts, someone who warns against missteps and guides its owners along the "appropriate" path in life.
But what happens when people want to think for themselves????
