The Central Choir had their fisrt performance of the year on Monday December 6, 2021. The Middle School performaed at 6:00 PM and the High School Performaed at 7:30 PM. This was the first time conducting CMS/CHS Students as a Central teacher for Ms. Jenna Leonard.
The title of the Middle School peromance was "Do You Hear What I Hear?"

Middle School Program Notes:
Galop: This piece helps the kids learn the solfege syllables. It’s fun, fast, and furious! They learn
musical terms like “key change” as well. It starts out simplistic, but then gets loud and fast.
There are no words: only solfege syllables!
When I Close My Eyes:
This piece shows how each person has the strength to achieve anything they set their mind on. This piece helps them to learn about the magic within themselves. It also shows how fear often stops us from achieving our dreams. When we banish fear, we canaccomplish anything.
Sleep Baby Sleep: Blended with “Silent Night,” this piece takes a different approach to the
classic tune. The students sing a lullaby to the baby, and they assure him that he is being watched over by trusted individuals. Then, the students mash up “Sleep baby sleep” with “Silent Night for a pleasant sound to the audience
Kazoo Concerto:
This piece takes classical tunes and turns them into kazoo tunes! The students sing about this musical instrument they have purchased, and how they know many tunes. Cayou recognize the songs they are “Humming” to Jing Jingle Bells: It’s like Jingle Bells…. With pizazz! This fast paced piece takes Jingle Bells and turns it into something different that everyone can enjoy. Listen for the sopranos and altos as they sing a melody different from the baritones
Do You Hear What I Hear?: This classic tune shows the maturity of the 7th/8th graders. They
sing with such grace and beauty, that it’s hard not to be mesmerized by their sound. This piece
tells the story of the birth of Jesus, and how Christmas came to be.
Count On Me: I sang this piece when I was in middle school, so it’s been such a joy to bring it
back! This piece talks about friendship, and how true friends will always be there for you no
matter what the circumstance may be.
Last Christmas:
The students love singing this piece, and it shows! It’s a classic Christmas song with a catchy melody. They take this common pop tune and put their own spin on it. The studentsget to learn how to sing and emulate instruments while also singing words
Marshmallow World: This piece is a tradition at Central Middle School. The students get to
learn how to sing different parts and be able to hold their own part. The sixth graders sing their
own line, and the 7tb and 8th graders get their own lines to sing as well. And when we put it all
together, we create beautiful music.
The title of the High School performance was The Light of Hope

Note From Miss Leonard:
“I am so proud of these students for putting in all the work during rehearsal. We’ve
shared laughter, frustrations, happiness, and accomplishments during this process. They have
really taken the music and made it their own! I have enjoyed getting to know each and everyone
of these talented musicians. They are great singers, but they are even better people.”
