The National Honor Society of Central High School held its annual Induction Ceremony on Sunday, April 7, 2024. The guest speaker was Mikayla Tellers, a 2022 graduate and former NHS member from Central High School. She spoke of how her NHS experience and the four pillars of NHS (Leadership, Character, Service, and Scholarship) have impacted her college experience.

A total of 14 students were inducted into the National Honor Society at the banquet. The faculty council selected each of these students after an application process centering on the four pillars of the NHS. A student must have at least a 3.5 overall GPA to be invited to apply. They then had to complete a resume centering on their leadership and service to the school and community, write a paragraph about leadership, and have had both community and teacher recommendations in order to be considered for selection. After being selected, each student must perform at least 40 hours of service work each year for the community, lead various projects, and be active in the school and community.

The banquet also celebrated the accomplishments of the year. The graduating seniors received recognition for their accomplishments. Each member had performed at least 40 hours of individual service hours each year they were members of the NHS (many students did more than 100 hours) and they also took part in and led many group projects. Some of these group projects cleaning up at Stiftungsfest, serving dinner to teachers at conferences, raising money to buy Christmas gifts for those in need for our community, recycling paper at school, Halloween trick-or-treating for the local food shelf, and various projects at CHS, St. John’s and the community.
